Day 1 & Day 2 Do Something

So the day I posted the fitness challenge I was all gung ho to start it and day one I was already looking for reasons to start “tomorrow” lol
I admit procrastination has been one of my key issues to work on in life, and its pretty common that for alot of us whenever we decide to do something we tend to set a date to start that is always never RIGHT NOW. So it was about 11 pm the night of the first night and I really tried to talk myself into just starting tomorrow and be okay with that, but my inner voice came in real loud, clear, yet calm and spoke to me.
Do something tonight.
That is the whole point of this challenge, to change current mindsets and behaviors that take us out of the present and bring us into NOW. Do something NOW. So I sat on the couch for a few minutes talking to myself in my head and all of a sudden a massive rush of energy surged through my body. It was almost as if the more I tried to resist the voice telling me to DO SOMETHING, this other force just came over me and it was almost as if I was mad or angry. I jumped up and went in my room and stood in the mirror looking myself dead in the eyes as if I was a lunatic coach pushing his star player to stop being lazy and get on his grind. You started this, this whole challenge is for you, this commitment is for you, this change is for you, are you going focus and DO SOMETHING or are you just gonna focus on the same habit you already have?
The answer was NO, Im not. I am about to do something right now.
I threw on a pink tank top, some itty bitty white booty shorts and some black tennis shoes, hooked up the ipod and turned on some Trey Songz say AHhh, positioned my mirror so I could see myself (I’m always more motivated by a visual of myself) and told myself “I will show you who is bout it bout it”
So I started doing some jumping jacks and got real bold and added in some burpees and this took the workout to a whole other level quickly. I was pumped after doing the first three, after about the fifth one I was like…GOOD LORD MAN these are hard! Take a look at the video to see what burpees are
(if you want to see more of her fitness videos check out Body rock Tv she has daily workouts that mostly can be done at home or outside without excessive or expensive equipment)
So I did way more jumping jacks, high knees, and just moving my body and feet and threw in some burpees in between, by this time Im jammin to my playlist and incorporating some dancing. Next I add in jumping squats, about 5 sets of 10-15 or so. Looking at myself in the mirror and thanking my body for responding to this workout is keeping me motivated and before I know it about 40 minutes have went by, Im dripping sweat and feeling really good and refreshed. I give myself a big smile and I take time to write in my journal and I write a few phrases down over and over again.
Gratitude for my body
Thank you to this beautiful body for holding up, responding to exercise and working to achieve maximum results
Gratitude to myself
Thank you for my determination, my motivation and my focus
My food intake for the day was pretty on point
Cabbage Soup
Salad
Homemade Chili over steamed sweet potato fries
a couple of mangos and some nuts
By the time I get into bed Im feeling great and ready to take this challenge head on!
Day 2
I woke up motivated to go to the gym but got distracted fooling around with my non working laptop that seems to have shorted out due to me spilling water on it. Well no need to be upset over that, this just means its time for a new one and a upgraded one at that. I called my pops on the phone, threw on a dress and some tennis shoes and took a walk around my apt complex as I chatted on the phone to him and my oldest brother about computer specs, components and the blessings of having such a great father in our lives. This took about 30 min or so, got some fresh air, some exercise and some love all at the same time. Can’t beat that with a stick
After playing around on the computer a bit, debating with folks on facebook on what is better a Mac or a PC I was chilling on the couch and decided I wanted to hit up the gym. A few weeks ago after my car keys got stolen at the gym I decided I would walk to the gym from now on. It is literally across the street and it really made no sense to drive over there so I packed a back pack and got to trekking to the gym. I love walking with my ipod playing music that moves me, its a way to meditate and visualize for me so along with the physical exercise I am also feeding my mental with healthy thoughts and visions. I get asked alot by random people what am I smiling about and I don’t even realize I walk around with a very noticeable smile on my face. Smiling is food for the spirit
At the gym I ride the stationary bike on hill mode for about 15 min, do some abs and stretching, lower back and randomly decide to do chest, back and some tricep dips. Im sure personal trainers would cringe at my style of working out and not having consistent routines or working out in a specific way, but this is how I do alot of things in life. Randomly
On the real I do have a general idea of how to work muscle groups effectively, if you are looking to work out in the gym I would suggest at least getting one or two personal training sessions to have general knowledge of how to work your body out using weights and gym equipment. I finished off my workout with doing a few sets on the leg press, went into the locker room and thanked my body and myself for the workout and for the effort.
My food intake for the day, again on poing
Oatmeal with coconut milk and agave nectar with a dash of cinnamon
almonds and a orange
eggs & avocado
So today I DID SOMETHING and Im feelin good!
Did you do something, anything today
Now is the time to do it! Get your mind and body on track to work for you…Living healthy is living happy
